Meeting an unequivocal need to end structural racism against Black Lives, BLM leaders called upon us to better love, honor, and protect one another; for we all play a role and possess the power to create liberating change.
The American Mom is playing our role in today’s fight for justice by launching the Watch Us Matter initiative: a liberation movement of continued generational uprising, shaped and led by Black Lives and Marginalized Community stakeholders to create institutional change addressing: violence, injustice, and racial disparity. Initiative partners will occupy transformative space in the following social arenas: Health; Labor; Economy; Environment; Education; Family and Government. TAM contributions will support the following Programs, Organizations, and Services:
National Bail Out, #FreeBlackMamas
- ‘The National Bail Out collective is a Black-led and Black-centered collective of abolitionist organizers, lawyers and activists building a community-based movement to support our folks and end systems of pretrial detention and ultimately mass incarceration. We are people who have been impacted by cages — either by being in them ourselves or witnessing our families and loved ones be encaged. We are queer, trans, young, elder, and immigrant.’
Until Freedom
- ‘Until Freedom is an intersectional social justice organization rooted in the leadership of diverse people of color to address systemic and racial injustice. At Until Freedom, we believe that those closest to the pain are closest to the solution, therefore, we focus on investing in those who are the most directly impacted by cyclical poverty, inequality, and state violence. We are a clearinghouse for advocates, new & budding activists, seasoned community organizers, students, movement lawyers, entertainers and artists, policy experts, formerly & currently incarcerated individuals, and survivors of gun violence to work linearly to uplift all of our people. Everyone is worthy, everyone is needed to win.’
Campaign Zero
- ‘Campaign Zero was developed with contributions from activists, protesters and researchers across the nation. This data-informed platform presents comprehensive solutions to end police violence in America. It integrates community demands and policy recommendations from research organizations and President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing. Together, we will win.
- Funds donated to Campaign Zero support the analysis of policing practices across the country, research to identify effective solutions to end police violence, technical assistance to organizers leading police accountability campaigns and the development of model legislation and advocacy to end police violence nationwide.‘
Black Futures Lab
- ‘Black Futures Lab transforms Black communities into active, interdependent, responsive public partners that change the way power operates—at the local, state, and national level. Black Futures Lab uses two interlocking efforts to accomplish this: the Black Imagination Incubator and the Shirley Chisholm Black Politics Project.
- The Black Imagination Incubator focuses on developing good public policy based on information gathered through the Black Census Project and by engaging with Black to the Future, a space for Black people to imagine, create, and educate elected officials about progressive legislation that improves the lives of Black people.
- The Shirley Chisholm Black Politics Project develops Black political power by building a base of Black people who vote their values at the ballot box; by electing progressive legislators; and removing elected officials who have agendas harmful to our communities, and by working to build alternatives in cities and states.’
Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc
- ‘Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.’
Loveland Therapy Fund
- ‘The Loveland Foundation was established in 2018 by Rachel Cargle in response to her widely successful birthday wish fundraiser, Therapy for Black Women and Girls. Her enthusiastic social media community raised over $250,000, which made it possible for Black women and girls nationally to receive therapy support. Black women and girls deserve access to healing, and that healing will impact generations.
- The Loveland Foundation is the official continuation of this effort to bring opportunity and healing to communities of color, and especially to Black women and girls. Through fellowships, residency programs, listening tours, and more, ultimately we hope to contribute to both the empowerment and the liberation of the communities we serve.
Inclusive Therapists
- ‘Inclusive Therapists‘ Mission: Celebrating all identities and abilities in all bodies.
- Inclusive Therapists offers a safer, simpler way to find a culturally responsive, social justice-oriented therapist.
- They center the needs of marginalized populations, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergent folx, and people with disabilities.
- They are a mental health justice movement pursuing equity and liberation through advocacy and activism.’
